Steve has 24 years of experience in the capital markets as an investment banker and investment manager. He is highly experienced in mergers and acquisitions, capital raising, investment banking and venture capital transactions, along with extensive experience in investment and portfolio management.
Steve began his career in investment banking at Citigroup Global Markets where he worked on M&A engagements in the technology, financial services, consumer products, aerospace & defense and energy sectors. Steve later moved to McGladery Capital Markets where he continued work on sell side M&A engagements for private middle market companies.
In 2005 Steve was recruited to join the Miven Family Office, a $1 billion single family office as their Senior Director of Investments. In this role, Steve was responsible for helping the family with all investment related due diligence as he analyzed, structured and allocated capital across a variety of asset classes. Steve was responsible for manager selection and worked with many of the country's top investment managers and investment banks. Steve also managed capital directly for the family where he developed expertise in tactical investment management, using fundamental and technical analysis to inform buy and sell decisions.
Steve has founded two successful Registered Investment Advisers that provided investment management services focused on tactical asset allocation and managing large concentrated positions. During his time building and managing the Registered Investment Advisers, Steve successfully led and completed half a dozen M&A transactions, rolling up smaller investment firms. Steve successfully sold and exited these firms to focus on investment banking transactions where he can provide expertise to early-stage, mid-stage and high growth businesses.
Steve joined Global Capital Markets as a Principal through its affiliate Nuvest Ventures where he remains a Managing Director. In his role as an investment banker, Steve oversees all aspects of the investment banking transaction process from inception to closing. His responsibilities include client sourcing, pitching, marketing, due diligence, valuation, negotiation, strategy, documentation and closing.
Steve received an MBA from the University of California, Irvine and a BA in Business/Economics from the University of California, Santa Barbara.
Steve holds FINRA Series 24, 79, 7, 65 and 63 licenses.
